Wimborne Ringers At St Mary-le-Bow

On Saturday 28th March the Minster's bell ringers were ringing the bells at Bow in the City of London in the qualifier round of the National 12 Bell Competition. They were up against bands from Worcester Cathedral, St Mary Redcliffe Bristol, Towcester, Oxford and the Ancient Society of College Youths, a London based society established nearly 400 years ago some of whose members ring at St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey.

In the competition each band rings a set piece lasting about 15 minutes which is assessed for accuracy by judges. The Minster ringers rang wellt and were pleased with their piece although they didn't qualify for June's final at York Minster.

They were back in action prior to the Minster's Eucharist on Sunday morning and will continue to hone their skills and hopefully one year will qualify for the national final.

The band photo was taken in front of the altar at St Mary-le-Bow and clockwise from front right the ringers are Hilary, Holly, David H, Philip, Flick, Barbara, Mariko, Adam, David W, Nigel, Louis and Harry.

The video taken in Cheapside has part of the Minster's test piece.
